Joy and Sadness strange companions . . .

Today I feel joyous, hopeful and overwhelmingly saddened all at once. Melissa and members of her family are packing up the house in Maine and I just got the pictures of what that looks like. A picture is worth a thousands words. Seeing the house “staged” to be sold and seeing so many boxes of their life in Maine gives me just a glimpse of what she, the children, her family and friends are feeling at this time.

The pictures vividly bring to mind the sacrifices they are making in moving to Georgia. The house they’ve known, the town and surrounding area Melissa grew up in that virtually all her family lives in or near, just to name a few. We are confident in where God is leading our families but like most times of great change and growth it isn’t pain free.

The physical and emotional changes will become more drastic and prominent here in Georgia soon as we make way for our family of six to grow to ten.

Please continue to pray for us and our extended families during this emotionally charged time in our lives. God is good all the time, not just when life feels good.

Wow! Packing up boxes and moving from the home you have always known -- that brings back so many memories. I will definitely be praying for Melissa and the kids during this transition. It's wonderful and hard all at the same time. Hopefully, Georgia will feel like home very quickly. We love you all, and we are praying. Love, Sarah Gibson

Hi Darren, I have been meaning to come read the story of your happiness here for some time. I just wanted to say I am so excited for this answer to prayer and I can't wait to meet Melissa. In fact, I think we may even have some connections in people we know. My MIL said she thought she was from Milo, which is about an hour or so from where I grew up in Maine. I look forward to welcoming Melissa and showing her that a girl from the woods of Maine really can make it in Georgia!! I'll be praying for all the family as you all prepare to be joined as one. :) ~Charity Buchan

Darren and Melissa,

I was so glad to learn of your engagement and how God is working in the lives of the children too. We were in GA at my parent's recently and saw you all out in yard once. I hope we can meet Melissa and the children the next time we are in GA. Melissa, Darren can tell you the special connection I have to the house there and how I too have experienced what your children have experienced at a young age.
Debra G.

P.S.-My Elizabeth will love to visit a house with 8 children. As an only child who is very social, she will be thrilled to visit a big crew.
